About Us
Tennessee High School Speech and Drama League (THSSDL) is a professional association designed to act as a collective voice for speech and drama educators throughout the state of Tennessee when they need it most.
In a time where many speech and drama programs are threatened by budget cuts, THSSDL is a place of refuge and education. We provide resources to help educators not only maintain and grow their programs, but help establish new programs. At our fall conference in late August, teachers receive training to help them in their endeavors.
Through THSSDL, member schools have the opportunity to come from across the state to compete in public speaking and acting activities such as high school tournaments and invitationals. These competitions give students the opportunity to compete in activities including, extemporaneous speaking, solo acting, one-act plays, interpreters' theatre and public debate. Thanks to these THSSDL supported competitions, top students and groups have the ability to go on to the state tournament in April.
